Why I do this work

Why I Became a Financial Advisor

My journey as a financial advisor began in the heart of rural America, helping farming families protect what they’ve spent generations building. Working alongside agricultural communities taught me early on that a person’s financial life is deeply personal, highly multi-faceted, and tied to their family’s legacy. Seeing firsthand how critical thoughtful insurance, tax planning, and succession strategies were to preserving a hard-earned way of life inspired me to expand my practice into comprehensive financial planning.

Today, whether I’m guiding young families building their first nest egg, business owners navigating complex growth, or retirees transitioning into the income phase, I bring that same grounded, keen-eyed approach to uncovering blind spots and protecting every client’s lifelong legacy.

A Grounded Approach to Financial Planning

Financial planning goes beyond portfolio returns. I integrate family needs, estate planning, and corporate/business interests into one cohesive roadmap, so the different parts of your financial life work together from a holistic, comprehensive perspective.

Investment and wealth-transfer decisions carry tax consequences. Through tax-intelligent planning, we can proactively structure strategies to optimize tax efficiency across your portfolio and estate.

Effective advice requires a keen eye for detail. I focus on identifying blind spots in high-impact areas that traditional, surface-level planning often overlooks.

Finally, it’s about regular life-stage alignment: As your priorities evolve from building wealth to preserving and distributing it, your strategy updates dynamically to protect what matters most.

About Joshua

Joshua Robinson joined Forum Financial Management in 2026 as a Financial Advisor. Now with more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Josh began his career at Conseco before he transitioned to Northwestern Mutual. Driven by a desire to offer clients broader solutions, he joined Terra Securities, drawn to its investment philosophy and the range of resources it offered clients. To gain greater autonomy in serving his clients and building on the investment principles he valued most, Josh co-founded PR Wealth Management in East Moline, Illinois. He brings that same disciplined approach to his practice at Forum today.

Josh works with clients across the full spectrum of their financial lives, tailoring strategies to their current stage and long-term vision. He helps early-stage wealth builders establish a foundation, optimize cash flow, and implement long-term savings and growth strategies. He supports business owners and established families as they manage multi-faceted financial lives involving family protection, equity/business assets, and complex tax considerations. Josh also guides distribution-phase retirees, individuals who are transitioning from a lifetime of saving to pursuing consistent, tax-smart retirement income.

Josh is actively involved in serving and giving back to his community across professional, civic, and faith-based organizations. He currently serves on the board of directors for Short Hills Country Club and recently served on the board of the Quad City Estate Planning Council, where he collaborated with fellow professionals to advance estate planning standards in the region. Additionally, Josh and his wife volunteer regularly in the children’s ministry at Coram Deo Bible Church in Davenport, Iowa, supporting and mentoring families in their local faith community.

Josh earned a master’s degree in financial services from the Institute of Business and Finance in La Jolla, California.

At home in Moline, life stays lively for Josh, spending time with his wife, their two kids, and their two dogs: a gentle senior Rhodesian Ridgeback and a humorously energetic Labrador.
